The Ryzom podcast 25!

Download it HERE!

This is what happens when you drink a bit on a tuesday night and then go read posts that make you mad. SO I rant.
BUT it is show number 25!!! Send me presents! I'm so happy to be part of this community and to be playing such a wonderful game.
Listen up! And I'll see ya in game!
Beau
Music in todays show:

The intro music is ALWAYS (usually kinda sorta) The Tryker creation music from ryzom.com
The next beautiful song you hear is from Regina Spektor from her album "Begin to Hope": it's called "Another Town"
Later another song from her called: "Fedelity" and lastly a REAL beauty called "Samson."

Love all of ya. Where's the Tryker wine???

I've played in the ryzom beta and since release off and on for a few years. Typically spending 1-3 months but I have never been hooked. That last time I logged on was last October.

Community is easily the best by far you can find. I haven't had such a wonderful community experience since I was a player and game master for an older mmo called t4c.

The biggest issue I have with ryzom. Things to do. The typical rebuttal to this is it's a sandbox game! You do what you want, not what some game tells you to do.

I do what I want. When my options are somewhat limited.. hrm.

That is what I would call a lazy developer. You need to give people LOTS of options on what they can do with their time logged in.

All throughout ryzom's development it seems to be lack of vision.

The ring was an interesting addition, I have read about it. But I haven't experience it personally.

Ryzom's options. Before Gameforge took over.

1)Grind a skill.

2)Roleplay.

3)Explore

4)Buy better equipment

5)Extremely limited pvp

I was in a rp guild. Great people :) some took things a bit to seriously. But it was a great experience.

I played late nights pst. The server is dead.. Ryzom is a game that needs social interaction. If you don't have that.. It can become just one big grind.

This can also be quite relaxing. I've played various audio books and classical music while grinding up my two handed sword skill or offensive magic. I've never been much of a digger or crafter.

I've also played WoW since closed beta. Back in the old days wow's community wasn't nearly as horrifyingly awful as it now.

Their is a lot of elitism. I choose to remain guildless for the most part. I don't find raiding particularly fun.

Options. Is what WoW gives me.

Fishing, Cooking. Battlegrounds. Enchanting my various pieces. Questing when I want to.
Playing the market on the AH
Various mounts.
Fun items!
Noggenfogger elixir has multiple effects. World enlarger. Transporter malfunctions that turned me into a tauren/troll for an hour (i'm alliance pallie in all BG equipment) a cow on a battle chicken is an amusing sight.

Bg (battlegrounds)+ Arena equipment is earned, so raiding isn't as necessary. The issue here is you have to like pvp.

Should ryzom become more like Wow?
Some aspects yes. Mostly no.

It does need more things to do.

Thanks for your comments! I agree with most of them, Ryzom does need some add-ons.
It's strange, and like I say in the podcast I have been able to see so many sides of the game that I feel like I'm involved and playing without being logged in all the time. So, I don't see the need for "new stuff" as much because I'm always getting "new old" info from my lore buddies and from my friends. What I mean to say is, I'm always discovering new areas...that have been there a while! :)
I hope that makes sense.
I hear what you are saying...and hopefully Gameforge will pick up the bat and hit a homerun.
I'll keep logging in and doing the podcast! Thanks for listening!
